WooHoo! Housing Prices Holding Steady in Kitchener-Waterloo

It's been over a month now since we first started to understand how COVID-19 and the resulting economic shutdown impacted the housing market in Kitchener-Waterloo. The news then wasn't exactly great, but it wasn't unanticipated either.

The KWAR has just released its data for May 2020. The numbers paint a clear picture of a market. There were 577 new residential listings hitting the market this past month. 419 properties sold, and it took an average of 20 days to sell.

The KWAR said, "Home sales in March came in like a lion went out like a lamb!"

Colleen Koehler, President of KWAR. "Before the pandemic hit our region, I believe we were on pace to set a record number of sales for March with the continuance of high demand, low inventory, and a strong seller's market." Total residential sales in March included 348 detached homes (up 7.1 percent), and 68 condominium apartments (up 5.1 percent). Sales also included 136 townhouses (up 17.2 percent) and 25 semi-detached homes (up 4.2 percent). Detached homes sold for an average price of $679,728, an increase of 15.9 percent.
